Resende

Resende, a cherries? garden next to the Douro, an infinite set of works that men have built over the centuries, represented in the archaeological site of Sta. Maria de C?rquere, in the Romanesque style churches and bridges, in the pillories and manor houses, in the parish of Caldas de Aregos that became famous exactly since the 12th century.

Together with the cherries, considered the ex-libris of Resende, there are also the famous "cavacas" (sugar glazed cookies) with the most famous recipe and without competition in the region. In the handicraft, highlight for the black pottery, lace and embroidery, pyrotechnics and weaving, a constant presence in all parishes of the municipality during the annual festivities and fairs.

It is also worth mentioning the regional folk music for its authenticity and character.
Among several viewpoints, the Penedo de S. Jo?o Cliff, in Freigil, is without any doubt the most beautiful place to admire, not only the anthropomorphic graves, but also an amazing view of the Douro valleys.

The E.N. 222 road, connecting the Bigorne parish, as well as the modern Ermida Bridge, located over the River Douro, made it easier to reach Resende.
